Program Description
Rising high school juniors and seniors can become a Youth Crew Member at Hub City Roots Urban Teaching Farm located at 498 Howard St. Spartanburg! Join an engaging and energetic team growing farm fresh foods at our Urban Farm while also learning leadership, teamwork, and basic job skills. As part of the internship, the Youth Crew Members participate in weekly community and workforce development workshops. Youth Crew Members serve as advocates in the community and are held to high standards of performance and behavior. The deadline to apply is April 5th at 5:00pm.
Workshops
Each week, the youth will participate in community-led workshops that are educational and inclusive. They will focus on: Financial literacy, Health & Wellness, Diversity & Equity, College & Career Readiness and Sustainable Agriculture.
Schedule
June 11th - August 2nd
Tuesday through Friday: 9 am - 2 pm
Every other Saturday: 6:45 am - 12:30pm
Requirements
High school students ages 14-17 can apply. Priority will be given to rising juniors & seniors.
Complete online application and interview process (Interviews will be held Saturday April 13th from 11am-2pm at Dr. TK Gregg Community Center located at 650 Howard St. Spartanburg, SC 29303)
Provide (2) recommendation letters (required to be completed by non-family members and brought with you in a sealed envelope to your interview)
Provide your own transportation to our Urban Farm (located at the Northside Harvest Park at 498 Howard St.) at the beginning and end of every workday
Compensation
Upon successful completion of the program, Youth Crew Members will receive a $500 stipend.

Crew Leaders
This position is only available to those that have already completed the Youth Crew Internship program or are currently enrolled as a college student. The Youth Crew Leader serves as the first point of contact for Youth Crew Members and lead youth in the day-to-day activities.
The deadline to apply is April 5th at 5:00pm.
Schedule
June 4th-August 2nd
Tuesday-Friday: 8:30am-2:30pm
Every other Saturday: 6:30am-12:30pm

Must have previously participated as a Youth Crew Member
